Terra Remota
Terra Remota, founded in 1999 by the Bournazeau Florensa family, began with 15 hectares of virgin land in the Alt Empordà region. The estate now spans 54 hectares, half dedicated to vines. Nestled between Capmany and Sant Climent Sescebes, it enjoys protection from the northern tramuntana winds by the Albera Massif, with granitic soils and a Mediterranean climate. Despite its remoteness, the area has been inhabited since ancient times, and Terra Remota honours this history with symbols from Iberian culture on its logo.
Marc and Emma Bournazeau, owners and winemakers, have created a visionary winery in the Pyrenean foothills with a focus on quality and minimal intervention. The estate has been organically certified since 2012, with a commitment to sustainability, including gravity-fed winemaking and rainwater harvesting. Marc’s winemaking philosophy centres on respecting raw materials and allowing each wine to develop uniquely, based on the individual characteristics of the grapes. His experimental approach, combined with an eye for design, makes Terra Remota a truly special project.
