Frerejean Frères
Champagne Frerejean Frères, founded in 2005, is a family-run estate in the Grand Cru village of Avize, nestled in the Côte des Blancs. Spanning six hectares, the estate prioritises sustainability, balancing vineyard care with the preservation of surrounding woodlands. The chalky soils create a distinct mineral Chardonnay, unique to the region. Their wines are crafted using traditional methods, including manual harvests aligned with the lunar cycle, avoiding pesticides, and allowing extended ageing to naturally develop complexity and character.
Despite modern challenges such as rising costs, material shortages, and climate change, Frerejean Frères remains committed to ecological responsibility. They practise organic farming, with ambitions for biodynamic certification, while supporting biodiversity and ethical sourcing. Their community involvement extends to fair wages and strong female leadership. With a boutique hotel project on the horizon, they continue expanding while maintaining artisanal quality, ensuring that each bottle reflects their philosophy of patience, sustainability, and mindful appreciation of fine Champagne.
